Day 1 & 2: Ndutu

You've been dreaming of your Tanzanian safari for so long and the day when it begins has finally arrived. We'll greet you, give you a quick rundown on what happens next and answer your questions. Then we'll take you out to discover what this incredible country has to offer.

When you explore Ndutu, you'll feel like you're getting all that the Serengeti has to offer, but there will be far fewer vehicles to block your view. This is one of northern Tanzania's best-kept secrets, easily accessible from both the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, and yet nicely off the main road between these more popular destinations. Ndutu is particularly good for wildlife when the great migration passes through, but there are plenty of animals to see here, framed against the vast horizon, at any time of the year. It's especially good for big cats, including tree-climbing lions.

Welcome to the Unesco World Heritage–listed Serengeti, one of Africa’s top safari destinations. While you’re here, there’s an excellent chance that you’ll see leopards along the dry riverbanks, cheetahs out on the grasslands, and elephants, giraffes and all kinds of antelopes everywhere across the park. Watch also for the Serengeti’s famous lion prides. And that’s just the start. Some of the largest and most diverse wildlife populations on the planet roam the Serengeti, not to mention millions of wildebeest and zebras who migrate across the plains every year.

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater

Your first sight of Ngorongoro Crater is likely not one you’ll easily forget. As seen from the crater rim, this natural bowl, both vast and intimate, is one of Africa’s most beautiful natural features, stretching 19 green kilometers (12 miles) from one side to the other. Down in the crater itself, you’ll explore an astonishingly rich, self-contained ecosystem that is protected by high crater walls. Here, lions and hyenas hunt wildebeest and Grant’s gazelle within sight of elephants and black rhinos. Your day spent here will reveal a surprising variety of habitats, from the Lereal Forest and salty Lake Magadi to the plains that rise and fall gently all across the valley floor.

Your safari in Tanzania will come to an end, bringing to a close your time in this remarkable country. We're sure that you have had the most wonderful time.

Day 1: Serengeti National Park

You won’t find many better national parks in Africa than the Serengeti, which has few rivals when it comes to both the numbers and variety of animals. Track down the annual migration of wildebeest and zebra. Enjoy the vast horizons that are perfect for spotting predators (especially lions, leopards, cheetahs and spotted hyenas and their prey (buffaloes, impalas and kongoni, as well as elephants and giraffes. If you’re really lucky you’ll see a hunt, one of the most exhilarating sights anywhere in the wild. And at every turn, revel in its beauty, with flattopped acacia trees silhouetted against the setting sun, and so many other classic African safari images.

Northern Serengeti National Park

The Northern Serengeti has large numbers of wildlife, quiet safari trails, and equally wonderful scenery. It's best when the migration is around, but it's good at any time of the year.

Day 3: Ngorongoro Crater

Today you’ll visit Ngorongoro Crater, one of the most beautiful natural sights in Africa, a place where you’ll experience otherworldly beauty with extraordinary wildlife. Watch as, from above, morning mist rolls up and over the crater rim, and notice how the steep walls suggest a place unlike any other. Down below on the crater floor, explore a lost world preserved in a state of pristine isolation, one that shelters lions and hyenas, elephants and black rhinos, flamingos and golden jackals. There are also forests, hippo-filled lakes, a salt pan and hyena dens, and you’ll never lose the sense that you’ve stumbled into a safari theme park where everything’s wild.

Day 1 : Serengeti National Park

Visiting the Unesco World Heritage–listed Serengeti is one of the best things you can do on safari. This is a park filled with some of the biggest populations of wildlife in Africa. Here in the Serengeti, there is a very good chance that you will see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, spotted hyenas, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest and so many other species. The endless horizons of the savannah grasslands are the perfect backdrop for seeing so many animals.
