Machame route itinerary

The drive from Moshi to Machame Gate takes approximately 45 minutes, passing through the village of Machame, located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Upon arrival at the park gate, we begin our trek through the lush rainforest, following a winding trail up a ridge. The trail at lower elevations can be muddy and slippery, making gaiters and trekking poles highly recommended. We continue for a short distance before reaching Machame Camp.

Machame Camp

Marangu route itinerary

After breakfast and a briefing, drive to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate (approximately 1 hour), where you will register before starting your climb. Trek through the lush rainforest to reach the Mandara encampment. A side excursion to Maundi Crater offers panoramic views of Northern Tanzania and Kenya. As you walk through the rainforest, look out for towering eucalyptus trees, a variety of bird species, and playful Colobus monkeys.

Mandara Hut
